ARTICLE
A, An, The are called articles.
There are two types of articles :-
1. Definite article :- The ( To show uncertain position of noun )
2. Indefinite article :- A, An ( To show certain position of noun )
Use of articles :-
A :- Hindi consonant sound
An :- Hindi vowel sound
The :- Unique things
Rule.1 We use A, An, The before the noun
A/An/The +Noun
ex. The cow has a tail.
He has an umbrella.
I have a book.
rule.2 Before the adjective
A/An/The +Adjective+ Noun
ex. Monika has a long stick.
She is an intelligent girl.
Rule.3 Before the adverb
A/An/The +Adverb +Adjective +Noun
ex. He is the very best player.
She is a very good girl.
Rule.4 Such/what/many/quite/rather +A, An + Adjective + Noun
ex. What a big fool ?
Many a good book.
Rule.5 Such/ what/ many/ rather/ half + A, An + Noun
ex. Such a girl.
What a fool.
Rule.6 To show number or quantity we use A
ex. A great number of
A great deal of
A large amount of
A good deal of
Rule.7 Change Plural noun into singular noun we use A
ex. six men committee -plural
A six man committee - singular
Rule.8 Use A/An before counting expressing word or units
ex. One and a half kilo
Half a kilo
NO USE OF A/AN
Rule.1 before proper noun we do not use a/an
ex. We live in a Rajasthan. (
we live in Rajasthan.
Rule.2 Before uncountable noun
A coffee Coffee
A petrol Petrol
A milk milk
Rule.3 Before plural noun
ex. A children Children
A boys boys
Rule.4 Before food items (names of meals )
ex. Give a lunch Give lunch
have a tea have tea
after a dinner after dinner
Rule.5 After Demonstrative adjectives
ex. This a house This house
That a book That book
Rule.6 After distributive adjectives
ex. all a winter all winter
all a morning all morning
go to a zoo go to the zoo
at a dawn at dawn
