                                          Pronoun

Pronoun  -Pronoun means for-a-noun.

Defination -Words that we use in place of Nouns are called Pronoun.

 -A Pronoun is a word used instead of a Noun.

(Noun के बदले प्रयुक्त होने वाले शब्द का Pronoun कहते हैं ।

               Kinds of Pronouns

1. Personal Pronoun 

2. Demonstrative Pronoun

3. Indefinite Pronoun 

4. Reflexive Pronoun 

5..Interrogative Pronoun

6. Distributive Pronoun 

7. Emphasizing / Emphatic Pronoun 

8. Possessive Pronoun 

9. Relative Pronoun 



1. Personal Pronoun :- 

The Pronoun that stand for persons animals or things are called Personal Pronouns.


Persons
i. First Person: The persons who speaks (I, we)

ii. Second Person: The person spoken to (you)

iii. Third Person: The person spoken about (He, She, It, They)

Ex -1 Ram is a handsome boy.

 2. He is my student.

Example No. (1) Ram-third person, Singular Number, Masculine Gender Nominative Case 

Example No. (2) Pronoun 'he' का प्रयोग किया गया है।


2. Demonstrative Pronoun:- 

The pronoun which are used to point out the persons or objects are called Demonstrative Pronouns.

For Example :- this, that, these, those

We use this and these when we talk about things near us.

We use that and those when we talk about things farther from us.


For example:

i. This is my friend.

ii. These are sweet apples.

iii. That is your problem.

iv. Those are tall threes.


3. Indefinite Pronoun

The pronouns used to refer to persons or things in a general way, not in a particular way, are called Indefinite pronouns.

For example: some, many, few, all etc.

i. Some are born great.

ii. Many monkeys lived on the tree.

iii. All the students take part in games.

iv. Few escaped unhurt.


4. Reflexive Pronoun

 The pronouns that end with self of selves are Reflexive pronouns. For example: myself, yourself, ourselves, himself, herself, itself.

Ⓒ A reflexive pronoun reflects back on its subject.

Ⓒ We can use a reflexive pronoun as an object of the verb.

For example:

1. He fell down and hurt himself.

ii. I wash my clothes myself.

iii. They blamed themselves for the defeat.

iv. The snake coils itself and sleeps.


5. Interrogative Pronoun

The pronouns which are used for asking questions are called Interrogative Pronouns.

For example: what, who, whom, whose, etc.

The pronouns who, whom and whose are used for persons.

The pronouns what is used for things.

The pronoun which is used for particular person or thing.

For example:

i. What is the matter?

ii. Which book do you want?

iii. Whom are you waiting for?

iv. Who is making the noise?

V. Whose pen is this?


6. Distributive Pronoun

The pronouns used to refer to one person or thing at a time, are called

Distributive pronouns.

 For example: either, each, neither.

i. Either of the teams can win the match.

ii. Each of them will get a prize.

iii. Neither of them wants to go home.


7. Emphasizing Pronoun

The pronouns which are used to emphasize (stress) a noun or pronoun are called Emphasizing pronouns.

For example: myself, yourself, themselves, itself, etc.

We put these pronouns near the subject.

We cannot use an emphasizing pronoun as object of the verb.

For example:

i. I myself wash my clothes.

ii. They themselves went there.

iii. The village itself is not very large.

iv. We ourselves carried the heavy bags.

V. She herself is responsible for that.


8. Possessive Pronoun

The pronouns which indicate possession are called Possessive pronouns.

 For example: mine, ours, yours, his, her, its, theirs.

Read the sentences given below to learn more.

I. This book is mine that one is hers.

ii. Those books are theirs.

iii. The pen on the table is yours.

iv. The caps lying there are ours.

The italicized words mine, theirs, yours and ours are possessive pronouns.


9. Relative Pronoun

The pronouns which join two sentences and refer to nouns mentioned earlier are called Relative pronouns. 

For example: who, whom, whose, that, which

A Relative Pronoun is related to the noun which comes before it.

The noun which comes before it is called its antecedent.

The relative pronoun must agree with the antecedent in number and person.

i. This is the man whose children are in Saudi Arabia.

ii. This is the waiter who served us yesterday.

iii. This is the girl whom the principal gave a prize.

iv. This is the camera which was lost.

V. This is the shop that my father purchased.
